BLU 3 ALBUM REVIEW

BLU*3 BURRN ALBUM REVIEW
Though their first album barely even woke the neighbors, BLU 3 are back with another attempt to live up to their name. BLU* 3 girls have released a second hot album. BURRN, which has many R&B songs, is strictly a love album. The 17 track album features talented acts like Navio,Chagga and Ghanaian Reejay. It has six Uganda songs, two Swahili and the rest English. It’s combination of dancehall, contemporary,hip-hop and Rhythm and Blues. ‘Burrn’ the title track that features Klear Kut’s Navio is a soothing track that has him do the rap. Listening to this album shows that the girls have matured in lyrics. The production of Steve Jean makes it worth. All the songs are hits. Songs like ‘Kwaheri’ and ‘Katika’ are there for those who don’t understand the luganda tracks. The best tracks on the CD — which features her Chagga yagga — shows how just being graced with a touch of Blu* 3 can boost a man’s entire profile. On the dancehall song “Nsanyuka Nawe,” they remind us on how a man should be treated. ‘Never give up’ is an inspirational track that lifts up spirits while songs like ‘Strong woman,’ and ‘the ladies featuring Reejay are dedicated to the ladies. Even if you don’t understand Luganda, you’ll definitely like the flow and beats of the songs. But the Nsanyuka Nawe, which has a remix in dancehall, is the disc’s highlight and everyone’s favorite. Blu*3 macks their way through sexy come-ons, blowout jams, bump-and-grind numbers and throwback grooves, coming at you with the volume blaring away. And while the girls have dished the dirt on their relationship with their men, it’s hard not to wonder if there is trouble in paradise on songs like “Nsanyuka Nawe,Mutima Gwange, Ndibeera nawe, woah,” which has Blu*3 frantically trying to hold onto their men — not for what they are, but all that they have. Whereas ‘Nsanyuka Nawe’ portray Blu*3 as the hopelessly romantic, sometimes vulnerable girlfriends, on “BURRN,” they’re in complete control of everything — from their sexuality to their lifestyle. This is a must listen album.
